Statute Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Statute mobile application (the "App"). The App is operated by Statute ("Statute", "we", "us", or "our").
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. About Statute
Statute is a Pakistani legal reference mobile application. The current release is an offline-first app that provides access to selected Pakistani legal reference content, search, bookmarks, notes, reading progress, theme settings, greeting preferences, and related local tools.
The current release includes the Constitution of Pakistan 1973, labelled as "Constitution of Pakistan 1973 — As modified up to 28 February 2012". Other laws may appear in the App as unavailable or coming soon.
Statute is not a law firm, court, government authority, official gazette, regulator, bar council, or official legal publisher.
2. Current Release Limitations
In the current release:
- The App does not require account creation.
- The App does not include login or authentication.
- The App does not provide AI-generated legal answers.
- The App does not upload documents.
- The App does not provide cloud sync.
- The App does not provide paid subscriptions.
- The App does not provide official legal advice.
Future releases may add additional features. If they do, additional terms or updated terms may apply.
3. Eligibility
You may use the App only if you are legally capable of agreeing to these Terms and are not prohibited from using the App under applicable law.
The App is intended for legal professionals, students, researchers, and other users seeking legal reference information. It is not intended for children under 13 or any minimum age required by applicable law.
4. Legal Information Only
The App provides legal reference information and local research tools. It does not provide legal advice, legal representation, legal opinions, or professional services.
Information in the App may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, or not applicable to your circumstances. You should consult a licensed lawyer before taking, delaying, or avoiding any legal action.
5. Legal Content and Source Edition
The legal content in the current release is based on a specific source edition. The Constitution content is labelled:
"The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan — As modified up to 28 February 2012 — National Assembly of Pakistan."
This content should not be treated as the latest, current, or official version of the Constitution unless independently verified from official sources.
You are responsible for verifying all legal text, amendments, rules, notifications, judgments, and current legal status from official sources or a licensed lawyer.
6. Notes, Bookmarks, and Local User Content
The App allows you to create local notes, bookmarks, reading progress, searches, and preferences on your device.
You are responsible for the content of your notes and for protecting access to your device. Do not store confidential, privileged, sensitive, or third-party information in the App unless you understand and accept the risks of local device storage.
The current release does not transmit your notes, bookmarks, searches, or reading progress to Statute servers.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, or abusive purposes
- Rely on the App as a substitute for a licensed lawyer
- Misrepresent App content as official legal advice or official government content
- Copy, scrape, redistribute, or commercially exploit App content except as permitted by law
- Reverse engineer, tamper with, overload, or interfere with the App
- Use the App in a way that violates applicable law, third-party rights, court orders, confidentiality duties, or professional obligations
8. Intellectual Property
The App, design, software, user interface, branding, compiled data structure, and original materials are owned by Statute or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the App except as permitted by law or with our written permission.
Public legal materials remain subject to their applicable legal status. Statute does not claim ownership over official legal text that is not owned by Statute or is not protectable by law.
9. Third-Party Platforms and Services
The App is distributed through third-party app stores and runs on third-party operating systems. Your use of those platforms may be governed by their own terms and policies.
The current release uses app framework and local storage technologies to operate on your device. The current release is not designed to send your notes, bookmarks, reading progress, or searches to third-party analytics, AI, or cloud services.

11. Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the App at any time. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available on every device or operating system version.
We may add, change, remove, or correct legal content, formatting, features, search behavior, local storage behavior, or supported laws.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, currentness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, and legal suitability.
We do not warrant that:
- Legal content will be complete, current, or error-free
- Search results will be complete or legally sufficient
- Notes, bookmarks, or reading progress will never be lost
- The App will satisfy your legal, professional, academic, or research needs
- The App will be accepted by any court, regulator, authority, client, or legal professional
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Statute, its owners, directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, business, opportunity, legal rights, or legal outcomes arising from or related to the App.
You are solely responsible for legal decisions, legal filings, deadlines, litigation strategy, compliance decisions, professional work, and actions taken or not taken based on information from the App.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Statute, its owners, directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the App
- Your local notes or other user-created content
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of law or third-party rights
- Your reliance on App content without independent verification
15. Termination
Because the current release does not require accounts, you may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
We may restrict, suspend, or discontinue access to the App or future services if required by law, platform rules, security concerns, or violation of these Terms.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Subject to applicable law, disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the App shall be submitted to the competent courts of Pakistan.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above indicates when these Terms were last revised.
Continued use of the App after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
